Adult Songwriting Class 8-Week Curriculum
Weeks 1-4: Understanding Songwriting Basics
Objective: Learn song structure, beginner music theory, and create a foundation for melody and rhythm. Students begin to craft songs, share them in class, and receive constructive feedback.
Weeks 5-8: Writing in a Specific Style
Objective: Analyze a band and/or artist’s songwriting style and technique. Learn how to write lyrics in the chosen style over an instrumental track provided in the same genre. Receive group feedback and instruction.
Weeks 9-12: Expanding Skills and Building an EP
Objective: Apply skills to new styles and complete multiple songs. Integrate professional advice for refinement.
Post-Course Option
All students who complete EMC's Adult Songwriting Course are invited to enroll in individual recording lessons to learn how to record their completed EP. They will also have the option to release their music with our in-house music label, EMC Records!
